The Club is pleased to announce the following signings for the 2023 season:
Season 2023

Shaun Smith, who previously captained the 1st XI side for 10 seasons from 2012 - 2021, has agreed to return to the Club.
Shaun decided to leave the Club in 2022 and played the season for Gateshead Fell CC.
Shaun has previously represented and captained the Club at all junior levels before playing 2nd XI and then 1st XI cricket. He represented Durham County at junior level from U13s through to U19s.
He also represented the North of England at U16 level.
Shaun previously left the Club to join Hylton CC before going on to play for Murton CC and Silksworth CC before spending 2 seasons as professional at Bill Quay CC.
Chairman Malcolm Pratt welcomed the news of Shaun's return and paid a warm tribute, saying "Shaun has been a model player and captain for us during his previous years with the Club. He will be a major influence for us again as he is such a popular person both on and off the field. He has always been an ambassador for the Club and we welcome him back with open arms.".

Joe Defty, who started his career at Ryhope CC, has agreed to join the Club.

At Sunderland, Joe scored 1278 runs and took 63 wickets on his debut season before moving on to join Durham CCC Academy, who he represented from 2019 to 2021, also making a few appearances for the 2nd XI.
Joe is delighted to be joining Phili and said "I’ve made the decision to move clubs as I want a new challenge and I want to have a regular chance in the middle order batting line-up and couldn’t pass up on the opportunity when I was reached out to and I’m looking forward to next season and getting started with the lads."
Joe is a young, exciting prospect who has the technique to build an innings or score quickly depending on the particular situation of the game and also bowls right arm medium pace.

Riley Blunt has joined the Club from neighbours Burnmoor CC.
Riley started his career playing for Burnmoor Juniors and has represented the Club at all levels.
He opened the batting for the second team before progressing to the first team.
Whilst playing for Burnmoor, Riley has won the North East Premier League, the North East Premier League T20 cup and the Protech cup.
He has also been involved in coaching within Burnmoor CC, including the U15 juniors who won their league in the 2022 season.
Riley made the decision to move to Philadelphia CCC as he wanted to play cricket regularly at a high level.
Captain Shaun Hauxwell offered Riley the position of opening batter and Riley's response was "to open the batting was an opportunity I could not turn down. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and joining the team".
Riley is a hard hitting, right hand batsman who should prove a great success at the Club.
