Press Release

The annual dinner/presentation evening of the Durham Cricket League took place at the Ramside Hall Hotel on Friday 25th October. All speakers took the opportunity to thank the Club for their service to the league and passed on their best wishes to the Club in the NEPL 1st Division next year. Malcolm Pratt was commended for his long and loyal service to the League. The Player of the Season award was sponsored by the families of Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry, 2 young people, who two and a half years ago lost their young lives at the Manchester bombing. Fully deserved, our first team captain Shaun Smith, who led the 1st team to promotion and who scored 1207 runs including 717 league runs (finishing 22 runs behind the league's highest run maker) won the award.

Ins and Outs 2020

1st XI captain Shaun Smith has scored a double by being named Player of the Season by both the Club and the Durham Cricket League. Shaun was presented with the Jack Welsh Memorial Trophy at the Club's annual awards night in the clubhouse. Other recipients of awards were:  First team bowler Adam McGuire; second team batsman Lee Bunting, bowler Chris Paton; third team batsman Michael Kearney, bowler David Lowerson and John Pratt; Sunday third team batsman Archie Smiles, bowler Brett Walton; Academy batsman Alex Davison, bowler James Davison.   Gordon Graves Memorial Trophy for most improved junior - Joe Walshaw. Four juniors - Archie Smiles, Luke Robinson, Sam Davidson and Sam Hughes were given vouchers to purchase cricket equipment. The four scored maiden half-centuries in senior cricket. A special award was made to 15 year old Luke Robinson for taking a hat-trick in the first team game against Durham City.

Club Awards 2019

The Club has named the function room the "Malcolm Pratt Lounge" after the long-serving stalwart completed 60 years continuous service in several administrative roles.

The Club has been promoted to the North East Premier League (NEPL) and will play in the following leagues in 2020:- 1st XI - 1st Division 2nd XI - 3rd Division 3rd XI -  Sunday 3rd Division 3rd XI (midweek) - Midweek League Junior teams will be represented at U11, U13 and U15 levels. The 1st XI will also compete in the Banks Salver, Banks Bowl and T20 1st XI competitions while the 2nd XI will compete in the Banks Cup, Banks Shield and T20 2nd XI competitions  The 2nd XI signed off with a big 10 wicket win at Tudhoe to also finish runners up, a really commendable performance by Stephen Robinson's young side. Before the start of the season it was the aim to include as many young players in the 2nd XI and the decision has paid off, with several improving their skills. The 3rd XI successfully finished second in the Hetton Lyons Sunday League as a result of the final day win against Kimblesworth. All four junior teams did well, a real credit to the Club.
