Club Awards 2019
1st XI captain Shaun Smith has scored a double by being named Player of the Season by both the Club and the Durham Cricket League.
Shaun scored 717 league runs leading the 1st XI to promotion and was presented with the Jack Welsh Memorial Trophy at the Club's annual awards night in the clubhouse.
The presentation was made by Chairman Malcolm Pratt who said Shaun had excelled both as a player and captain.
"Just before the start of last season we found that three first team players would not be available and we made an indifferent beginning, but Shaun stuck in and by winning our last five games, we will play in the North East Premier League Division One next season," said Pratt.
Other recipients of awards were: First team bowler Adam McGuire; second team batsman Lee Bunting, bowler Chris Paton; third team batsman Michael Kearney, bowler David Lowerson and John Pratt; Sunday third team batsman Archie Smiles, bowler Brett Walton; Academy batsman Alex Davison, bowler James Davison. Gordon Graves Memorial Trophy for most improved junior - Joe Walshaw.
Four juniors - Archie Smiles, Luke Robinson, Sam Davidson and Sam Hughes were given vouchers to purchase cricket equipment. The four scored maiden half-centuries in senior cricket.
A special award was made to 15 year old Luke Robinson for taking a hat-trick in the first team game against Durham City.
